Completing a dissertation is characterized by intense work. Dr. Simone C. O. Conceição provides individual and group coaching sessions for graduate students who have completed all coursework and are preparing their dissertation proposal or finalizing their last dissertation chapters.
Coaching involves facilitated and guided tasks intended to achieve specific goals. As a coach, we help students set a timeline for accomplishing work, map their research topic, and move to the next step. Our services do not replace the role of the major professor. We help you navigate the transition phase between being a student and a dissertator.
Our goal is to contribute to a student’s proficiency as an emerging scholar. We facilitate critical and creative thinking, reflecting, and developing student ownership of their work and acquiring a voice as a scholar.
Dr. Conceição is Professor Emerita in the Department of Administrative Leadership at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee. She is the author of numerous books and publications. She has been the major professor for 15 doctoral students and a committee member for 26 doctoral dissertation committees. She has written on graduate student advising, coaching, and mentoring. She is the recipient of several awards.
